- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup eggnog
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons eggnog
- Ground cinnamon, nutmeg, or holiday sprinkles
Instructions
- Cream the butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add eggnog and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out dough on a floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness.
- Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters and place on parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
- For the frosting, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and eggnog, beating until smooth.
- Frost cooled cookies and garnish as desired.
